About Me
Learn more about me and my passion for nature and photography.
Who am I?

I am Màrius Asensi Jordà (Santa Coloma de Cervelló, 1995). I work as a Web Developer (I consider myself backend, but I can also paint things on screen). I am very passionate about hiking and photography, activities that I combine with my fascination for statistics, maps, and territory documentation. Beyond walking and observation, I love delving into mineralogy, the study of geology, mushroom foraging, and the identification of our prized orchids.
PedraEspiga
PedraEspiga is my personal space, a project born from the need to unite my passions. Its name comes from Pedra (a geological and mountain reference) and Espiga (a vegetal component, linked to orchids and botany). The blog functions as a meeting point between the visuals of Instagram and the analysis of Wikiloc: each entry offers a photographic showcase of my outings, complemented with detailed routes, statistics, and maps for anyone seeking useful information about the territory. Furthermore, PedraEspiga serves as my personal laboratory and testing ground to apply and demonstrate what I do daily as a Web Developer. The logo was designed by my friend Miquel Soldevila.
Peaks and trails

For me, the mountain is much more than physical exercise; it is an unparalleled way to 'build country' (fer país) and truly understand the territory that surrounds us, from the most intimate and majestic perspective. Although I am not competing officially, the FEEC's (Catalan Federation of Hiking Entities) 100 Peaks challenge is a fantastic tool that I use as the perfect excuse to visit less popular places and discover unheard-of corners of our geography. This list serves as a measurement system for the milestones achieved, and the satisfaction of marking a new one is undeniable. I highly recommend the 100 Peaks scratch map as a motivating and visual element to continue this constant exploration of our landscape.
Photography and orchids

Photography has always been a faithful companion on my outings. However, for practical reasons of weight and time optimization, I have adopted the concept the best camera is the one you have with you. Although professional equipment offers superior performance, carrying 5 kg of gear is not feasible for me. For this reason, 90% of the photos on this blog are taken with a mobile phone, with surprising quality. The most recent captures were made with the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL (February-September 2025) and the current Google Pixel 10 Pro XL, replacing earlier models such as the OnePlus 10 Pro and the 5T.
As for orchids, they represent spectacular and striking flora. I have been fortunate enough to pursue this hobby with expert people, which has allowed me to even undertake specific excursions dedicated entirely to their search and documentation.
