La Tosa
Description
La Tosa (2,536 m), also known as Tosa d'Alp, is an emblematic and very popular peak in the Eastern Pyrenees. Located to the east of the Moixeró mountain range, it marks the natural border between Cerdanya and Berguedà and is part of the Cadí-Moixeró Natural Park. Its isolated and strategic position makes it one of Catalonia's great viewpoints, offering 360-degree panoramas that include Cerdanya, Puigpedrós, Carlit, Pedraforca, the Cadí range, and the peaks of Ripollès.
Geologically, La Tosa corresponds to a hanging syncline, primarily formed by limestone rocks from the Devonian and Lower Carboniferous periods, with the presence of "griotte." Furthermore, the summit is a significant center for sports and tourism. On its slopes lies the Alp 2500 ski domain, connecting the La Molina and Masella resorts, and at its peak, the Niu de l'Àliga Refuge (2,520 m), the highest guarded refuge in the Eastern Pyrenees.
Access to La Tosa is varied, ranging from classic routes like the one from Coll de Pal (GR 150.1) or the more demanding ascent from Urús, to a comfortable cable car from La Molina, making it accessible to all types of hikers and mountain enthusiasts.
