Pic del Segre
Description
The Pic del Segre (2,843 m), also called Puigmal de Segre, is a prominent peak that forms part of the Gran Olla de Núria on the axial ridge of the Eastern Pyrenees. It is located on the border between Alta Cerdanya (Llo) and Ripollès (Queralbs), situated immediately south of the Coll de Finestrelles.
Its morphology is that of a rounded and gentle summit on all its slopes. The most significant orographic feature is that the source of the River Segre (one of Catalonia's most important hydrological axes) is found at the foot of its northwest slope. The north slope (bac de la Culassa) shows clear signs of glacial erosion (clots de Segre).
The Pic del Segre is a peak commonly used as a passing point on classic routes. The most common access is from Coll de Finestrelles, ascending the easy, wide ridge. It is also an essential part of the Olla de Núria traverse and the "Quatre Puigmals" circular route, linking it directly to the Pic Petit de Segre and Puigmal d'Er to the southwest.
