Pic Negre d'Envalira
2,822 m
OpenStreetMapDescription
The Pic Negre d'Envalira (2,822 m) is a border peak in the Eastern Pyrenees, located on the boundary between the parish of Encamp (Andorra) and the commune of Porta (Haute Cerdagne, France). This summit is part of the ridge known as the "Envalira peaks".
Its name comes from the dark appearance of its northern face, caused by the presence of slates with ferruginous mineralization that give it a reddish-black colour. It is a highly frequented high-mountain point, especially from the nearby Pas de la Casa, as despite its altitude, the ascent does not present major technical difficulties under normal conditions. It is a peak included in the FEEC 100 Peaks list.
