OpenStreetMapDescription
Puigdefrou (also known as Puig d'Afrou) is an emblematic peak in the La Selva region, standing at an altitude of 839 metres, overlooking the Cellera de Ter valley. Despite its modest height, it is included in the FEEC 100 Peaks list (Federation of Catalan Excursionist Entities) under the "Non-Essential" category.
Located in the Les Guilleries range, the summit offers exceptional panoramic views that include the Susqueda reservoir, the Anglès valley, and the Costa Brava, visible from the orientation table installed next to the large wooden cross, a symbol of the town of La Cellera de Ter since 1966.
The surroundings are predominantly forested, dominated by holm oaks, oaks, and chestnut trees, which makes the ascent (of high physical difficulty, with about 800m of elevation gain and 18 km for the usual route) particularly pleasant. It is also a popular launch point for sports such as paragliding and hang gliding.
