Puigmal de Llo
Description
The Puigmal de Llo (2,762 m) is a prominent secondary peak in the Eastern Pyrenees, located in the Alta Cerdanya (Northern Catalonia), marking the border between the communes of Er and Llo. Morphologically, it is presented as a wide and rounded ridge, ideal for long routes.
This summit is a frequent destination for hiking and ski mountaineering. Its southwest slope (Coma d'Aiguaneix) is especially valued in winter for its ability to retain snow and be sheltered from the wind, making it the key ascent route from the former Puigmal ski resort (Cotzé).
The best-known hiking routes, such as the one starting from Banys de Llo or the linking of other peaks, utilize its connection with neighboring summits (Pic del Segre, Puigmal d'Er). In summary, it is a panoramic and accessible peak, highly regarded for its snowfall and its high-mountain views.
