Puigsallança
Description
The Puigsallança, at an altitude of 1,027 metres, is the highest point of the Serra de Finestres (Finestres Range). Located in the Garrotxa region, this peak is integrated within the Garrotxa Volcanic Zone Natural Park and acts as a natural division between the Llémena Valley and the Santa Pau Valley. It is included in the FEEC 100 Cims list.
Due to its strategic position, reaching the summit of Puigsallança (where a geodesic vertex is located) offers one of the most privileged viewpoints in the area. Panoramic views encompass the volcanic region, the Empordà plain, the Bay of Roses, the Les Gavarres and Montgrí massifs, and the entire Pyrenean range from Puigmal to Les Alberes on clear days.
Geologically, the range is primarily composed of Eocene sedimentary materials (conglomerate, sandstone, and marl) resting on a Paleozoic base. This geology contrasts with the Quaternary basalt flows that characterize the adjacent volcanic zone.
