The ascent to El Far, starting from Sant Martí Sacalm, was the chosen route to conquer this emblematic peak. Despite the day's heat, the path was full of incentives and discoveries. The route, cutting through majestic beech forests (fagedes) and imposing cliffs (cingleres), offered a very enriching botanical and geological experience.
During the climb, we had the opportunity to find numerous marine fossils (the nummulites in the limestone) and various wild orchids blooming along the roadside. Once at the summit, the reward was the spectacular views that stretched out, with the Susqueda Reservoir in the foreground and the Pyrenees in the distance.
The atmosphere at the top was lively. We coincided with a curious classic car meeting, a striking and singular contrast between the austerity of the Sanctuary and the grandeur of the nature surrounding us.
