Excellent day for hiking in the Baix Montseny, offering us the chance to add two new "cent cims" (hundred peaks) from the FEEC list to our collection. On a circular route spanning 16.03 km, we embarked on our adventure near Can Planell, in Sant Pere de Vilamajor. The sky hinted at a transformation, starting with clouds and culminating in a radiant winter sun.
The initial 3 kilometers comprised a steady climb that led us to the Turó de Sant Elies, where its historic hermitage and watchtower stood as silent witnesses to time. We continued our ascent, passing over Turó de la Cova and Turó de la Moixa, until we reached our first major milestone of the day: Turó del Samont, a peak included in the FEEC list. During the climb, clouds initially played tricks on us, obscuring the majestic Montseny Massif (Matagalls, Agudes, and Turó de l'Home). However, fortune smiled upon us at the summit of Samont, where we were rewarded with spectacular views embracing the Massif in all its splendor.
The adventure pressed on towards Turó d'en Cuc, a passing point before reaching our second and final major objective: El Sui. From its summit, the visual reward was simply overwhelming. We reveled in a 360º panorama that stretched from Tibidabo to La Mola and Montserrat, encompassing Montcau, Tagamanent, and the imposing Pyrenean peaks: Pedró dels Quatre Batlles, Cap del Verd, Cap de la Gallina Pelada, Cadí, La Tosa, Puigllançada, and Puigmal, all proudly displaying a generous blanket of snow. Of course, the familiar sights of Matagalls, Agudes, and Turó de l'Home, which we had recently climbed, were also present. A truly magnificent winter spectacle!
Finally, we retraced part of our path to the picturesque Collet dels Pous d'en Bessa, where we discovered two ancient snow wells, testaments to more rigorous winters past. From there, we began our descent along the south face, immersed in the tranquility of the forest, completing a circular route that brought us back to our starting point, partly via a comfortable forest track. A winter day that began with a veil of clouds and concluded under a radiant sky, leaving us with an indelible memory of the breathtaking views and the rewarding effort.
