Sant Llorenç del Munt: Exploring La Mola and its Wonders
Performed on 1/18/2025
Description
On January 18, 2025, we embarked on a fantastic 7.12 km hike that took us to La Mola de Sant Llorenç del Munt, the highest peak of this imposing mountain range, crowned by the historic Monastery of Sant Llorenç del Munt.
The day was, quite simply, radiant. From the summit, we reveled in absolutely spectacular panoramic views. Our gaze drifted northwards, where Montseny stood majestic and snow-dusted, with its most emblematic peaks like Matagalls, Turó de l’Home, and Agudes, prominently featured. Further beyond, the white silhouette of Canigó graced the horizon. To the south, the view encompassed the Collserola mountain range, the vast expanse of the Baix Llobregat, and, of course, the unmistakable and majestic Montserrat, which added the perfect finishing touch to the panorama.
But the adventure wasn't limited to the summit alone. Along the ascent path, we had the opportunity to visit the mysterious Cova de Sescorts, a fascinating spot that merges nature and legend, adding a touch of exploration to the route. We also passed by the unique Morral del Drac, a rock formation that sparks the imagination. And, naturally, once at the summit, we explored the interior of the Monastery of Sant Llorenç del Munt, a silent testament to centuries of history.
The descent followed the classic path, a trail that allowed us to enjoy the beauty of the landscape as we headed back to our starting point, passing by the idyllic Can Pobla. A complete and memorable day where nature, history, and endless vistas joined hands to offer an unforgettable experience in Sant Llorenç del Munt.
