Discovering Munt de Montsonís: Lo Padrí and a Charming 100 Cims Peak
Performed on 3/21/2026
Description
On March 21, 2026, we dedicated the morning to a pleasant and short 3.7 km ascent of Munt de Montsonís, a peak perfectly situated in the vicinity of Artesa de Segre. Our objective was twofold: to enjoy the stunning views of the area and to bag another '100 cim' for our FEEC adventures list.
The route, notable for its simplicity and clear pathfinding, guided us smoothly to the summit. Along the way, we were rewarded with an excellent perspective of a significant portion of the rich Aiguabarreig Segre-Noguera Pallaresa protected area. The panoramic views stretched across various villages and, notably, towards the impressive Montsec mountain range, offering a captivating landscape.
But the mountain had a few surprises in store for us. Along the path, we discovered an impressive, large wooden figure known as Lo Padrí de Montsonís, a silent guardian of the route. Once at the summit of Munt de Montsonís, our curiosity was further piqued by the presence of stones painted with ladybugs, a charming detail that added a touch of originality and magic to our conquest.
This short morning excursion proved to be a gratifying experience, ideal for those seeking an accessible route with great visual rewards and hidden treasures. A day that shows you don't need to cover vast distances to connect deeply with nature and discover the beauty of our local landscapes.
