Ordesa: The Cola de Caballo Route and Senda de los Cazadores path
Performed on 9/27/2025
Description
After a short bus ride to the Pradera de Ordesa, I began the classic route to the Cola de Caballo (Horse's Tail) Waterfall.
The outbound journey, an easy and pleasant route, was a nature bath through the spectacular beech forest at the bottom of the valley, surrounded by mushrooms and passing impressive waterfalls that signal the grandeur of the setting.
Once at the Waterfall, a perfect spot for lunch with a view, I tackled the day's great challenge and viewpoint: the Senda de los Cazadores (Hunters' Path). A dizzying zigzag descent of 650 m of elevation change that rewards you with a spectacular aerial perspective of the canyon, leaving you almost back at the starting point.
A very demanding route finish, but with the satisfaction of having overcome the canyon's toughness. A premium closing with a celebratory beer at the meadow!
