We welcomed the month of February with a magnificent route that led us to the summit of Pedró de Tubau. Spanning a distance of 14.23 km, this circular experience began about a kilometer above Sant Jaume de Frontanyà, where we embarked on a landscape that promised surprises.
The initial ascent followed tracks and unmarked paths, a slightly disorienting section that added a touch of adventure to the day. As we gained altitude, the majestic, snow-covered peaks of Pedraforca gradually came into view, offering a progressive visual spectacle. Our path led us to the Mirador al Pas de les Baumes, a natural balcony right on the cliff edge with close-up views of La Tosa and Puigllançada, and to the left, Cadí and part of Pedraforca. From there, we made a brief descent and ascent detour to 'Les Baumes' to fully appreciate the imposing rock face.
Back at the viewpoint, we continued along the cliff, steadily ascending towards the summit. Each step revealed a broader and more impressive panorama. Once at the summit of Pedró de Tubau, the reward was a spectacular 360º viewpoint. Our gaze stretched across the Serra d'Ensija, Pedraforca, Cadí, La Tosa, Puigllançada, L'Emperadora and Costa Pubilla (Serra de Montgrony), with Puigmal silhouetted in the background, Taga, Puig Estela, and even the distant Bassegoda. To the south, Montseny (with a light dusting of snow), Serra de l'Obac, and the emblematic Montserrat completed the breathtaking scene.
The descent led us into a tranquil pine forest, passing by the ruins of Corrubí and the picturesque Ermita de Sant Llorenç de Corrubí. We continued our journey past the Ermita de Sant Esteve de Tubau and through an area with beautiful gorges, before completing the circular route on a comfortable track that returned us to our starting point. A very pleasant route that, despite starting under cloudy skies, ended with radiant sunshine, leaving us with an unforgettable memory of this start to February.
