Pedraforca Hike: Pollegó Inferior via Gran Diagonal
Performed on 6/14/2026
Description
On June 14, 2026, a 7.42 km route was completed, including the ascent to Pollegó inferior (Pedraforca). Initially, a less technical route via Costes d'en Dou had been considered, but the group ultimately decided to tackle the summit via the well-known Gran Diagonal. Equipped with an extra rope, helmets, and harnesses, the route began from the Área Recreativa de la Serra, offering an alternative to the usual access points from Refugi Lluís Estasen.
After passing through the forest zone, the path leads beneath the Saldes scree slope, veering left onto a considerably steep section. The ascent continues to the Balcó de la Joaquima, from where the final part of the route can be observed. Further along, the trajectory turns left, revealing vertical walls with climbing routes and the Gran Diagonal in the distance.
Upon reaching the base of the first obstacle, the Gran Diagonal, a continuous scramble begins. The first section with a fixed rope required the use of the extra rope for secure progression. After overcoming the Gran Diagonal, the route proceeds to the right along an exposed section without additional aids, until a second elevation gain equipped with a fixed rope is encountered, where the safety gear was used again. The final meters to the summit involve exposed scrambles.
The summit of Pollegó inferior provides views that contrast with the usually crowded Pollegó Superior and allows for observation of the Enforcadura from a different, more solitary perspective. The descent was made via the easier part of the route, characterized by a steep slope for much of the way, until reaching some airy ridges. Finally, the path reconnected with the ascent route, passing by the base of the scree slope and the forest zone. This technical route was completed by the group.
