Capitalizing on the generous snowfall gifted by the Christmas and St. Stephen's Day storm, we sought an option that would ensure safety amidst the high avalanche risk prevailing in the Pyrenees. Thus began this memorable snowshoeing excursion around Port Ainé, choosing a 7.2 km route that, while a classic, proved deeply rewarding thanks to the fresh, untouched snow awaiting us.
The journey, undertaken on December 28, 2025, captivated us from the outset, winding through forests laden with fluffy snow and along the edges of the ski resort's slopes. The aesthetic of the landscape, completely covered in white, with every tree and corner transformed, evoked a fairytale Nordic setting more than our familiar mountains. We were fortunate to enjoy sunshine for much of the ascent, illuminating the scene with a magical brilliance and offering breathtaking views.
Nevertheless, the final stretch to the summit greeted us with the typical weather change for that altitude. Fog made its presence known, enveloping us in an ethereal and mysterious atmosphere that added a touch of adventure. Finally, we summited Torreta de l'Orri, easily identifiable by its large communication towers that stand majestically, marking the highest point of this privileged sector of the Pallars Sobirà region. A winter experience that combined the beauty of a transformed landscape with the satisfaction of a safe and inspiring ascent.
