Ophrys speculum in Full Bloom in La Noguera
Observed on 3/29/2026
Description
Taking advantage of our time in the beautiful La Noguera region, we seized the wonderful opportunity to delve into the search for fascinating wild orchids. During our exploration, we were able to visit a population of Ophrys dyris, one of the local beauties, observing its distinctive features and its surrounding habitat.
But the true highlight of the day was, without a doubt, a population of Ophrys speculum, the Mirror Orchid, which presented us with a spectacular sight. We were fortunate enough to find up to 7 specimens, all in glorious full bloom, their iridescent labella reflecting the sunlight like tiny, gleaming eyes in nature. To see them so vibrant and full of life is always a profound privilege and an immense joy for any orchid enthusiast!
