The second week of February 2026 saw us achieve an important milestone: conquering the last '100 summit' pending in the Cadiretes-l'Ardenya Massif, Puig de ses Cadiretes. On a circular route of 10.5 km, we began our adventure from the serene Santuari de Sant Grau. Recalling our last foray into this massif in 2025, when we completed the triple ascent of Puig de les Cols, Montclar, and Puig Gros, we knew the area held many secrets. Despite the existence of shorter routes that allow reaching the summit in less than an hour, we decided to opt for a more comprehensive day, convinced that the true charm of this area lies in the rich archaeological heritage it conceals, making this a very accessible and rewarding winter excursion.
The path revealed itself from the very beginning as a journey through history and landscape. We started by exploring the mysterious Cova dels Lladres, with its curious paintings, before continuing through picturesque spots like Cal Federal and the unique Sa Creu de Fusta. But it was from the third kilometer that the route acquired a truly unique dimension: we delved into a concentration of megalithic monuments. The Menhir de Montllor, the Paradolmen de Reig, the Paradolmen de ses Rates, and the Paradolmen d'en Garcia appeared one after another, perfectly signposted and inviting us to a pause.
Finally, the culminating moment of the ascent arrived. A well-marked path guided us to the summit of Puig de ses Cadiretes, crowned by a geodesic vertex. The reward was an exceptional panorama, a canvas painted with the silhouettes of Montnegre, Montseny, the Cinglera d'Aiats, and the distant El Far. Although the Pyrenees appeared slightly clouded, we could sense the majesty of Puigmal and Canigó. Amidst the lush forest, the familiar outlines of Montclar and Puig de les Cols stood out.
After a well-deserved lunch we resumed our return journey, which still held more surprises. We visited the Menhir d'en Llach, the discreet Paradolmen dels Senglars (a bit hidden among the vegetation), and, as a grand finale, the striking Pedra sobre altra, a natural formation that defies gravity. The day, against all meteorological forecasts, gifted us with radiant sunshine, turning this route through the Cadiretes Massif into a memorable experience full of discoveries, perfect for enjoying winter.
