Description
On the last Friday of June, in the afternoon, a trip was made to the Les Gavarres area. The primary objective of this orchidological foray was to locate and document a specimen of the orchid Spiranthes aestivalis, a species that had not been personally recorded until then.
The outing culminated in the successful discovery of this summer orchid, marking the observer's first sighting of this particular species. This finding stood apart from the familiar Spiranthes spiralis, an orchid already known and associated with autumn flowering, highlighting the distinction between the aestival and autumnal species within the genus Spiranthes.
