Visiting Obarra Monastery: A Sunday of Culture

Following an intensive field day on Saturday, which included ascending the Peak and visiting the Ibones de Barbarisa, Sunday was dedicated to a cultural exploration of the region. This break in our series of botanical expeditions led the group to visit the Monastery of Santa María de Obarra.

The visit to the monastery offered an opportunity to delve into the history and architectural heritage of the area, providing valuable complements to the study of local flora. While this specific day did not focus on direct orchid searching, observing the general environment and its landscapes helps contextualize future botanical surveys in the region and better understand the habitats that sustain them.
