A Spring Afternoon with Pyramidal Orchids in Baix Empordà

What a joy it was to revisit the familiar landscapes of the Baix Empordà! This late April afternoon proved to be particularly rewarding. As we explored some of our favorite spots, those that year after year offer delightful surprises, we had the immense pleasure of encountering a multitude of Anacamptis pyramidalis, the ever-vibrant Pyramidal Orchid.

What captivated us most was witnessing them just as they are beginning to bloom. Thousands of magenta-hued spikes, still nascent but full of promise, were shyly emerging amidst the grasses, heralds of a floral spectacle that, in a few short days, will paint the fields with color.
