Cephalanthera damasonium: A Roadside Treasure

During our ascent towards the majestic El Far, starting our route from Sant Martí Sacalm, nature held a small and charming surprise for us. As we progressed along the road connecting Ermita de Santa Anna with Santuari del Far, our gaze was drawn to an unusual detail by the roadside.

There, discreet, we discovered a solitary specimen of Cephalanthera damasonium, the elegant White Helleborine. This individual was in splendid flowering condition, its pure white flowers barely opening, a characteristic trait of this species. Its presence at the edge of the path, illuminated by the morning sun, was a gentle reminder of the biodiversity that often goes unnoticed on our journeys. A delightful find that further embellished our climb towards the heights!
