Saturday evening brought thrilling news that ignited our orchid-hunting zeal: the very first blooms of the coveted Ophrys forestieri had been sighted in the majestic Montgrí! Without a moment's hesitation, and eager to catch the last golden rays of the day, we hopped in the car and made a swift dash towards this iconic region, brimming with hope of finding these elusive beauties.
Our quest for Ophrys forestieri led us through captivating landscapes, and during this exciting expedition, nature had a delightful surprise in store. As we explored, we began to encounter several specimens of Himantoglossum robertianum, commonly known as the Giant Orchid. But the true highlight of the evening unfolded at our very last stop. There, before our eyes, stretched an impressive population of Himantoglossum robertianum: a large number of specimens standing at a considerable height, displaying a remarkable vitality and robustness that utterly captivated us. Undoubtedly, a promising start to the season.
