Neottia nidus-avis: Abundance in the Beech Forest
Observed on 5/25/2025
Description
During our descent from the el Far, we experienced a truly special encounter. Deep within the cool, tranquil embrace of a beech forest, precisely where sunlight dappled through the canopy and mingled with shade, we stumbled upon an impressive colony of Neottia nidus-avis, the fascinating Bird's-nest Orchid.
We observed numerous specimens, all in splendid flowering condition. What particularly caught our eye was the remarkable height and robustness of the plants, as well as the sheer density of the colony. Undoubtedly, this year's generous rains have been instrumental in fostering such exuberance, creating a landscape of orchids brimming with admirable vitality. A true hidden gem in the heart of the forest!
