Ophrys dyris: Over 20 Flowering Specimens in Noguera
Observed on 3/29/2026
Description
Taking advantage of our stay in the beautiful Noguera region, we were incredibly fortunate to make an unexpected stop that gifted us with a memorable orchid observation. The highlight, without a doubt, was visiting a well-established population of the always captivating Ophrys dyris.
The discovery left us truly marveling: we counted over 20 specimens of Ophrys dyris, all in splendid flowering condition, showcasing their characteristic beauty. But the surprise didn't end there, as this community was richly accompanied by other Ophrys species. Beside them, we had the pleasure of observing a single specimen of the distinctive Ophrys scolopax, along with about 7 plants of the brilliant Ophrys speculum, and, to top it off, a few Ophrys passionis, adding another touch of variety to this idyllic floral landscape. A true feast for the senses and a testament to the rich orchid biodiversity hidden within Noguera!
