Discovering O. forestieri in the Heart of Montgrí
Observed on 2/21/2026
Description
Spring has gifted us a new orchid adventure! During our exciting circular route through the Montgrí massif, which included the climb to its imposing castle, we were fortunate enough to stumble upon a total of 20 specimens of the elegant O. forestieri.
What truly stood out about this encounter was that most of them were at their optimal flowering stage, showcasing their full beauty with vibrant inflorescences. Interestingly, the largest and most visible concentration was found, quite unexpectedly, at the car park of the Ermita de Santa Caterina, which transformed into a small orchid sanctuary. A truly memorable day that underscored the botanical richness and the delightful surprises this captivating Mediterranean landscape always holds for us!
