First Ophrys scolopax among the O. dyris
Observed on 3/29/2026
Description
During our time exploring the beautiful region of La Noguera, we were immensely fortunate to make a dual observation that brought us great joy. Our initial aim was to visit a known population of the fascinating Ophrys dyris. And, as nature so often does, it presented us with a wonderful surprise!
Amidst this thriving colony of Ophrys dyris, all specimens in good flowering condition and displaying their characteristic beauty, we made an unexpected discovery: an Ophrys scolopax! Finding this species growing in close proximity to O. dyris was a truly special moment, highlighting the rich diversity of habitats in this area. A memorable day that reminds us why we cherish our orchid expeditions so much!
