Highland Orchids: Orchis mascula near the Sanctuary

During our exhilarating ascent to the summit of El Far, the visual reward extended far beyond the panoramic views stretching to the horizon. Just as we approached the Sanctuary of Mare de Déu del Far, in the shadow of its ancient stones, we were delightfully surprised to discover a notable colony of Orchis mascula.

Numerous specimens of this magnificent orchid, with its characteristic deep purple flowers, adorned the meadows close to the sanctuary. Their presence, so vibrant and elegant, was the perfect culmination of our climbing effort. It was a captivating reminder of the biodiversity hidden even in the highest and most revered places, offering a natural spectacle that complemented the serenity of the site.
