Seven Orchis mascula Specimens on the Sant Antoni Descent
Observed on 4/18/2026
Description
During our gentle descent from the Hermitage of Sant Antoni, with the morning breeze caressing the landscape, we had the pleasure of a long-anticipated encounter. Our path crossed with several specimens of the Orchis mascula, commonly known as the Early Purple Orchid.
In total, we were able to count up to seven specimens, subtly scattered along the path's edge. Most had their leaf rosettes already well-formed, promising future blooms, but the excitement was palpable upon discovering one of them already in full floral splendor. Its intensely purple flowers were a true gift for the eyes, standing out gracefully in the surroundings. This first flush of bloom is an unmistakable sign that spring is progressing, bringing with it the promise of more orchid beauty!
