Thriving Ophrys olbiensis Amidst the Pines of Les Gavarres
Observed on 3/15/2026
Description
After lunch, we decided to embark on an afternoon expedition to Les Gavarres, with a specific mission in mind: to revisit a known population of Ophrys olbiensis. The journey proved to be incredibly rewarding.
Tucked away in a tranquil pine forest, not far from a familiar track, we located the colony. To our delight, the majority of the plants were in excellent condition, showcasing their characteristic beauty amidst the dappled light filtering through the pine needles. It's always a privilege to witness these delicate orchids thriving in their natural habitat, and this particular encounter reaffirmed the enduring charm of Les Gavarres as a true sanctuary for wild orchids.
