Cephalanthera damasonium: The unexpected reward
Observed on 6/9/2025
Description
While searching for the Cypripedium calceolus, we found a single specimen of Cephalanthera damasonium. This orchid, commonly known as the White Helleborine, stands out for its creamy white blooms and discreet stature. It was discovered in a shady forest corner, bearing witness to the rich, albeit hidden, biodiversity of the undergrowth. This species is a rewarding find, as its barely open flowers often allow it to go unnoticed.
