Orchid Route: The Diversity of the Catalan Pre-Pyrenees

Description
An orchid field trip was recently conducted in the Catalan Pre-Pyrenees, with the primary objective of locating the highly sought-after Cypripedium calceolus. The quest for this emblematic species, known to flower during this period and traditionally attracting botanical interest, guided the expedition.
Throughout the excursion in the region, a total of 13 different orchid species were identified. Among the findings, the presence of the rare Corallorhiza trifida notably stood out, a significant discovery that enriches the botanical record of the day and the area.
The prospecting proved fruitful, offering insights into the orchid diversity of this mountainous region and confirming the floristic richness of the Catalan Pre-Pyrenees during this time of year.
