Neottia nidus-avis in the humid shade
Observed on 6/9/2025
Description
The Neottia nidus-avis is one of the most singular orchids due to its lack of chlorophyll and its uniform ochre-brown color. We located numerous individual specimens, blooming in the dense shade of the pines, evidence that this year's humidity conditions, favored by the rains, have been optimal for this saprophytic species. Despite its usual solitary distribution, we highlighted the presence of an group of 4 spikes growing together, right next to the main track. This concentration of Neottia nidus-avis is a discreet and fascinating spectacle of the undergrowth.
